You’re not going to believe this, and indeed I’ve never seen anything like it before. Last evening, just as we started live-streaming (can you say DATA, as in if you don’t have wifi it takes pounds and pounds of DATA to live-stream?) the whole church – and I mean the entire building, from deep foundations to tippy-top towers – just FELL OVER on its side! HOLY COW! There was some leftover up-and-down gravity inside so we didn’t notice anything at first, but soon enough it was like HEY, WHAT’S GOING ON HERE!? Why am I feeling so SIDEWAYS? Once we figured out (with the assistance of a helpful neighbor who texted to say that she thought something might be amiss) that the whole church had fallen over ON ITS SIDE, we paused the video and Kathy Murzyn and Jon Michael Sullivan and Dan Everson and Fr. Harmon and I got on the low side and PUSHED and Rags took a rope in his teeth on the high side and PULLED. Well, we pushed and pulled and pulled and pushed and FINALLY our old church went back upright and just sat there all prim and proper like NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. WHEW! What a thing that was! At least we know what to do if it happens again!
Thank you so much for being with us for Holy Thursday. We think we’ve figured out the technical issue – as many of you so correctly noted, the auto-rotate feature was on when it oughtn’t have been – and we think we’re good to go for Good Friday. 3:30 this afternoon. Again, a link will come up on the FB page just before we’re ready to start. And Flocknote. And the website.
A couple of sad things to keep in prayer: Our dear Beatrice Scott (Y.E. Scott’s mother) is on hospice at her home. Fr. Dirk saw her yesterday, administered the sacraments, and assured her of our love and prayers. And our dear Josepha (Jossy) Eyre is being cared for at a facility in Littleton – one of only a few that will still admit clergy. Yesterday Fr. Dirk was able to visit with her, administer the sacraments, and assure her of our love and prayers. Our prayerful hearts go out to Jossy and Miss Bea and their families.
In hoc signo vinces. Love has the victory. And you are beloved.
