“Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer.” (Romans 12:12) Be assured that Fr. Harmon and I pray for you daily and fervently. We look for the day when we can again gather together as a community. That day will come.
As for this day, let’s just say that it got away from me and hasn’t come back. Which is to say that today’s blog entry will be mercifully thankfully gloriously finally brief.
Many of you have written to express your appreciation for yesterday’s Mass on video. Fr. Harmon was our videographer and editor. Kathy Murzyn was our lector. Jon Michael Sullivan was our musician. Dan Everson, SJ was our server. Myself, I did my best to do as I was told. We’re going to keep at it. I’m good with almost anything so long as I don’t have to wear a leotard.
God is at work in the world. That’s what I want to say on this particular Monday. Perhaps that’s hard to believe in the midst of confusion and distress. No matter: It’s true, in good times and bad. And today I saw God in action in a series of events that could not have been mistaken for anything but God at work in the world. So I give God the glory and pray to remember that God is at work in the world every day and every moment of every day.
St. Ignatius Loyola – whose life was anything neither easy nor placid – recommended looking back in times of darkness to a time of comfort and consolation. Why? So as to remember what is always true: God is love. And you are beloved and blessed.
